On Independence Day President Lungu has implored Zambians to embrace peace and unity in order to promote sustainable development.

He noted that despite being branded as a peaceful nation there are still factors holding Zambia back from attaining full development.

He continued that in order to attract foreign investment and enhance international relations Zambia must work towards promoting a positive brand.

He looked back to the nation’s struggle for freedom and remarked that it was the beginning of a collective journey towards prosperity,

He said this year’s theme for both Independence and National Day of Prayer urges people in the country to be selfless, love and respect one another and that God’s guidance is upon the country.

The President said all Zambians should play a role in deepening the meaning of independence by building strong bonds of unity that will help in building a better Zambia.
