NDC To Field Candidates In All By-Elections

Chishimba Kambwili’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) will have its first taste of electioneering under their own brand in April when the 15 ward by-elections take place.

The NDC has announced that that it will field candidates in all the 15 wards during elections to test its own popularity.

Kambwili’s NDC has been making the right political noises but will have to walk the talk on April 24 following the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has setting 24th April, 2018 as the Poll date for Local Government By-Elections where vacancies have arisen in various districts of the country.

Nominations have been set for 27th March, 2018.

NDC to contest all local Government seats.

Lusaka. 11.03.2018.

The National Democratic Congress NDC will field candidates in all the 16 vacant local Government seats country wide.

NDC chairperson for elections Ackson Simwezya announced this during the party’s second Central Committee meeting in Lusaka.

The local Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ has announced that polls at local government level in five regions of the country will be held next month.

Mr. Simwezya said the leadership search in the said areas where the by elections will be held has since started.

He says the NDC has since issued guidelines to party functionaries country wide on how the adoption process for prospective councillors will be done.

Mr. Simwezya said the adoption process for local government candidates will be done in a free and transparent manner.

The forth coming local government elections will take place on the Copperbelt, central, southern, Muchinga and luapula province.

He said guide lines on the adoption process for the chilanga seat will be announced after the ECZ declares the seat vacant.

And Mr Simwezya informed the NDC central committee that the party will field a Candidate in chilanga constituency.

Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini has written to the Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ to declare the chilanga seat vacant.

This follows the sentencing to death by the high court of upnd area MP Keith Mukata.

And NDC Lusaka province Acting Provincial Chairman Patrick Phiri told the meeting that the party had intensified its campaign activities in Chilanga.
