HH Pushes For Answers On Fire Truck Scandal

Hakainde Hichilema has called on Zambians to keep asking questions about the purchase of 42 fire trucks at US$42 million.

The opposition leader said it is important that citizens don’t lose sight of the important questions of why the state decided to spend 42 million on the procurement of fire trucks when there were considerably cheaper options available.

He made these comments whist attending the bail hearing for Pilato.

who was arrested last week when he returned home having fled the country fearing for his life.

Pilato was detained last week after he returned home from South Africa, where he had spent four months.

The controversial musician left Zambia after receiving threats from PF cadres over his hit song “Koswe Mumpoto” which was viewed as accusing President Edgar Lungu and his Ministers of being corrupt.

Mr. Hichilema told Journalists that he was in court “to show support to citizens in difficult situations like this”

“We await the outcome of this trial of the colleagues who have staked it to ensure that there is an explanation to the procurement of the fire tenders. We take this opportunity to invite all well meaning Zambians to take interest in this and many other cases,” Mr. Hichilema said.
