International Coach On The Cards For Chipolopolo
Sources have revealed to The Mast that the FAZ is expected to announce an international replacement for embattled Wedson Nyirenda, who currently coaches the team. “It is a widely held view inside Football House that his [Nyirenda’s] heart is not here anymore,” the source is quoted as saying.
The news follows reports earlier this week that Nyirenda is among the 71 coaches to have applied for the vacant position with the Cameroonian national team, and weeks of mounting tension between the FAZ and Nyirenda, who was to be subject to the review of a technical committee formed by the Association after doubts were expressed regarding his performance.
It is understood that two foreign coaches have been talked to and an announcement will soon be made. In the interim it is expected that Nyirenda’s assistant Beston Chambeshi will see the team through next month’s COSAFA fixture due to take place in South Africa.
In addition to the arrival of a new coach, further training for the entire Chipolopolo technical bench is planned.
