Africa Free Trade Area Agreement Will Not Be Ratified Yet
Minister for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Christopher Yaluma has announced that the Zambian Government will in fact not ratify the recently signed Africa Continental Free Trade Area Agreement until further consultation has been carried out.
He noted that there needs to be further consultation with citizens, however he urged Zambians to support the agreement as he believes it will benefit the industrialisation of Zambia and the production of quality goods. He believes it will change the perception of Zambia as a ‘dumping ground for low standard goods.’
President Edgar Lungu signed the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Agreement during the just ended 32nd Heads of States and Government Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
