HH Criticises Government Decision On Export Of Maize

The UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has criticised the decision by the PF Government to allow the export of mealie meal. He argued that the PF government should revise its decision until they are certain that there is enough maize for Zambians to eat themselves.

He noted that in fact most maize fields had dried up, signalling that poverty levels could continue to escalate, with many going hungry.

Just last week The Ministry of Agriculture lifted the ban on the export of mealie meal with immediate effect. There is concern we will see a rush to export mealie meal without proper preparations being put in place to ensure there’s enough in country to feed Zambians.
