Fuel Situation Stable, Says ERB

The Energy Regulation Board has tried to reassure Zambians by stating that the fuel situation in the country has stabilised, following the crisis in October.

ERB Director-General Langiwe Lungu told reporters there are no service stations without fuel, except for those facing in-house logistical problems. She also said the ERB had dealt with the consequences of the recent fuel transporter strikes.

“I can confidently say we are out of the woods as a country, and that we are building our stocks steadily, each day our stocks are increasing. So we would like to put the nation at ease in terms of fuel situation at this time,” Ms. Lungu stated.

She added that the board has been conducting surveillance operations throughout the country to check stock levels on a daily basis.

The ERB have also found that several oil marketing companies have been withholding fuel or selling it in plastic containers. The board have threatened enforcement action.
