K22 Million Released For Lusaka City Market Renovations
Following safety concerns about the structural integrity of Lusaka City Market, the government has announced that they will release K22 million to complete the building after delays.
Gary Nkombo, Local Government and Rural Development Minister, conducted a tour of the market yesterday.
He said that the delays had been partially due to contractual problems which have now been resolved, stating a new contractor had been brought on.
He also stated that some bureaucratic issues had impacted the opening but these had now been resolved.
The builders are under pressure to get the work completed before the rainy season starts but are confident it will be done.
The new market is set to be completed in a few weeks.
