It marks the tenth time the summit has taken place with 300 participants from over 40 countries meeting over the next few days to discuss economic transformations.
This year’s summit will also be held alongside the young African innovators’ meeting.
President Hakainde Hichilema opened the summit with a speech that called for nations on the continent to increase their investments in education.
He said that more governments should partner with the private sector to meet their investment goals.
Additionally, he called for increased technological access to ensure the provision of quality education.
The chairperson of the Global Partnership for Education, Jakaya Kikwete, explained that low levels of education had been made worse by Covid-19.
He added that 5.5 million children in Africa could lose their access to education unless a significant investment was made.
