Memorandum of Understanding Sealed With China On Exports

On Thursday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was singed with China on the sanitary and phytosanitary export of soya bean meal and stevia leaves to the Asian country.

Chinese Ambassador Xiaohui and Zambia's Minister of Agriculture Mtolo Phiri signed the protocols in Chikankata in the presence of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema who said it was a mark of true friendship between China and Zambia.

President Hichilema noted that We are very delighted and excited about this situation. We are very delighted that we have another market for our agricultural products.” He added that the move will enable more trade between the two counties which will, in turn, create more jobs in the country.

Signing of the MoU followed President Hichilema’s earlier tour of the Kafue Lower Gorge Power Station, a Chinese-built hydropower plant. The project was a milestone in the relationship between the two countries, said the president. The construction of the power plant is nearing completion, with the fifth of five generators expected to be finished by the end of this year.
