President Hichilema Discusses Zambian Investment with UK Finance Institution
President Hakainde Hichilema has met with Nick O’Donohoe, CEO of British International Investment (BII), the finance institution of the UK government.
This meeting is one of many of Hichilema’s engagements during his trip to the UK, which include attending the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday and speaking at the upcoming Africa Debate on Thursday.
Hichilema said in a statement, released on his Facebook page, regarding the meeting with the BII, “We assured them that their investments are safe as we continue providing an enabling environment for private sector to thrive through policy consistency that will promote economic growth. We also informed them that we are looking for mutually beneficial partnerships based on common values and interests for the people of the Zambia and the UK.”
The BII has invested over $100 million in the Zambian economy. Its main areas of interest are the country’s agricultural, energy and financial sectors, and how these can meet the needs of Small and Medium Enterprises.
