ZNS to Open Copper Mine in North Western Province

Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commander Lt General Maliti Solochi announced that by 2027, the service is expected to open a Copper mine in the North Western province. Lt General Maliti Solochi says this is in addition to the mines in Kitwe on the Copperbelt.

The ZNS Commander says this is just one of the economic activities that the service has decided to engage in while also providing security in the country.

Lt General Maliti Solochi said, “Even the internet was first used by the military. Eventually, these things are demilitarized and given to the civilian populace. The military is supposed to be leading in research and development.”

The announcement was made during the Chief of the South African Airforce’s courtesy call to Lt General Solochi in Zambia.

The South African Airforce Chief, Lt General Wiseman Mbambo, said he led the delegation to Zambia to benchmark their own systems and learn new ideas from how other security wings operate.

“Copying is no longer something we must frown and run away from… you cannot live in isolation,” said Lt General Mbambo, praising the ZNS for their game-changing approach to contributing to the country’s development.
