President Hichilema Leads Economic Growth Forum
Yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema spearheaded talks at an Economic Growth Forum, with partners from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Growth Centre (IGC). The forum exchanged ideas regarding the optimisation of Zambia’s natural resources to advance national development.
President Hichilema highlighted the government’s commitment to developing economic sectors, particularly mining and agriculture, the latter being pertinent considering the drought that has affected the country’s key agricultural hubs. The President stated, “We are resolute in our efforts to optimise the utilisation of Zambia’s abundant natural resources for the betterment of our nation.”
Further discussions considered the issue of climate change and Zambia’s role in providing the world with copper for the green energy transition, with the country holding six percent of the world’s known copper reserves. Through cooperation with the IMF and IGC, the government emphasised their aims to employ creative strategies that foster inclusive growth and resilience among global challenges.
President Hichilema’s concluding remarks reiterated Zambia’s dedication to furthering its economic growth, stating, “Together, we will work tirelessly to realise our vision of a prosperous and thriving Zambia for all.”
