EU Offers Aid to Finance Railways
The European Union (EU) has praised Zambia's efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in the country.
The EU's Director General for International Partnerships on Railways, Henrik Hololei, said the EU is ready to provide financial aid to Zambia in order to make the railway network fully operational.
This was discussed in a meeting between an EU delegation and Zambia’s Transport and Logistics Minister, Frank Tayali.
Hololei said the revitalisation of the railways will play a major role in transforming the nation's economic growth.
Minister Tayali revealed plans to present a proposal to privatise the railways in order to foster greater competition and innovation in the sector.
Tayali thanked the EU for their support and assured Zambia’s dedication to strengthening bilateral ties.
