President Hichilema Makes Visit to Copperbelt
President Hichilema is making a two-day working trip to the Copperbelt Province on the 28th and 29th May. He is set to officiate at the 2024 Forum Technology Empowering Development of the Mining Industry in Luanshya.
The Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo has revealed that the President will then officiate at the Copperbelt Agricultural, Mining, Industrial and Networking Enterprise (CAMINEX) conference in Kitwe.
The conference will give an insight into the progressive steps of the mining industry, with last year’s conference embedding the theme: Reignite, rebuild and renew, after the difficulties experienced from the covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s CAMINEX comes at a poignant moment after President Hichilema urged companies such as FQM which operates Kansanshi mine in Solwezi to prioritise developing skills in mining communities to combat unemployment.
President Hichilema said, “Mining houses here in Solwezi, Kansanshi, Kalumbila and Lumwana – I said it before we formed government – when you have a job and you are looking for an employee, you must first look within the North-Western Province before you look outside the Province.”
CAMINEX 2024 will provide a platform for constructive discussions for taking the mining industry to new levels.
