Mopani Copper Mines have paid K341 million in taxes since March
Mopani Copper Mines, which was taken over by International Resources Holdings (IRH) in March have paid K341 million in taxes, the government has revealed.
The IRH was brought in to manage Mopani with the support of the government in March, and the company has seen a drastic improvement in operations and financial viability.
The IRH Chief Financial Officer, Abhinay Khowala paid a visit to the Finance and National Planning Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane on 11th June, and the company’s tax payments were highlighted.
Khowala described Zambia as a mining paradise, and there was an optimistic atmosphere, as the company’s tax payments demonstrates both its dependability financially but also its capacity for job creation and expanded business projects.
The firm has indicated its desire to increase its production to optimum levels, alongside improving its mine administration systems, supply chain management and production systems.
This announcement made in a statement to the Minister of Finance and National Planning Minister, comes after the Mopani Copper Mines PLC Chief Executive Officer was awarded the prestigious Mining Executive of the Year Award by the CEO Africa RoundTable. The award is given after an assessment of senior executives in various sectors across the continent and beyond.
