12,000 tax payers using Smart Invoices

The Smart Invoice system which was launched in March this year is in full operation. 12,000 tax payers have registered to use the service.

The Commissioner General of the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Dingani Banda has revealed that of that number, over 100,000 have been submitted, amounting to a value of K7.2 billion.

During a press briefing providing an update on the smart invoice system, Mr. Banda noted that of the total 21,000 registered on the Value Added Tax (VAT), only 8,000 are currently active tax payers.

In an effort to prevent revenue leakages and improving the quality of tax service delivery administration, the ZRA has maintained the deadline for tax payers to be registered to use the Smart Invoice by 1 July with a grace period up to 30 September 2024. If not complied with, there will be penalty enforcement.

The Smart Invoice system provides a modernised infrastructure for optimising and sustaining revenue administration and trade facilitation.
