Savenda Electronics To Invest In Renewable Energy Solutions
Savenda Electronics has announced it will invest heavily in renewable energy solutions to diversify the energy mix from the country’s reliance on hydropower.
Savenda CEO Joo Chunga made the announcement at the Agricultural and Commercial Show, where the company won first prize in the Best Export Promotion Exhibit (Commercial).
According to Chunga, Savenda is working to “invest more in mini-grids as an alternative source of power from the hydro system.”
“Because of being environmentally conscious we are investing in tower mini-grids, meaning that you only need about 100m2 to generate 1MW of energy, compared to the standard panels where you have to use about a hectare of land to generate 1MW of energy,” he added.
Savenda currently supplies water meters to Zambia’s 11 water utilities and electricity meters to a wide range of customers across the country. It is also expanding into regional markets, including Malawi.
