Zambia's Dr. Samuel Maimbo Launches Bid for African Development Bank President


Dr. Samuel Maimbo, a seasoned development finance expert from Zambia, has formally announced his candidacy for the presidency of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Dr. Maimbo's campaign is focused on a transformative vision for Africa's economic future, with an emphasis on rapid job creation and strategic investment in key industries. His platform prioritizes achieving middle-income status for Africa through accelerated growth and impactful delivery. He plans to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), enhance financial resources, and drive progress in agriculture, infrastructure development, energy access, climate action, and the creative industries.

"We need to get one billion people to work as quickly as possible by strategically supporting the industries that will improve livelihoods and ignite prosperity on our continent.
