World Bank Applauds Zambia’s Reforms and Strengthened Partnership
The World Bank has commended the Zambian government for its ongoing reforms and investments, recognising the country’s progress and development efforts. Zarau Kibwe, World Bank Executive Director for Africa Group 1 Constituency, expressed the Bank’s satisfaction with the performance and outcomes of its supported programs in Zambia. Kibwe emphasised that the government’s reform agenda aligns with and strengthens collaboration between Zambia and the World Bank, underscoring the nation’s commitment to economic and structural improvements.
During his visit, Kibwe stated that his primary objective was to assess Zambia’s key challenges and opportunities, allowing the Bank to explore ways to enhance its partnership with the country. Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane, on behalf of the government, expressed deep appreciation for the Bank’s long-standing support, particularly highlighting the flagship Kariba Dam project and the critical assistance provided during last year’s severe drought.
The strong partnership between the Zambian government and the World Bank reaffirms Zambia’s growing role on the global stage. Recognition from such a respected institution further underscores the country’s positive impact and commitment to sustainable development.
