KK Movie In The Pipeline, Studio Confirms
A film depicting the life of Zambia’s first republican president Kenneth Kaunda will soon begin production at South African studio Frank Global Movies Ltd.
The studio’s CEO Frank Kasonde said the film will be shot in locations across Zambia, South Africa, The United States and United Kingdom, with a cast selected from all four countries.
In a letter to the Zambian High Commission in South Africa, Kasonde said the film will be titled ‘the Struggle’ and aims to bring young Zambians in touch with their heritage and the country’s fight for independence.
“He mentioned that the epic Independence struggle movie would enrich young generations with knowledge and information that would accurately represent the struggle for political freedom and independence as well as expose Zambian artists to the international community,” the High Commission’s press secretary Naomi Nyawali said.
Kasonde has asked for the Zambian government’s support in successfully producing the film.
In turn Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Maj. Gen. Jackson Miti has commended the project, saying it will enrich Zambia’s arts sector and highlight the country’s story of liberation.
He said Zambia’s story of independence should be amplified, shared and celebrated.
