Man Arrested For Overtaking Vice President’s Motorcade

A 37-year-old man from Livingstone has been arrested and charged with three offences after overtaking Vice President Inonge Wina’s motorcade as it drove through the city last Tuesday.

Innocent Shula has already appeared before Livingstone Senior Magistrate Trevor Kasanda after being charged with dangerous driving, failing to obey a police officer’s signal, and use of an unregistered motor vehicle on a public road.

Shula allegedly drove his unregistered Toyota Mark X on Livingstone’s Musi-oa-Tunya Road and overtook the vice president’s motorcade as it made its way to the Chrismar Hotel from Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport.

The Mast newspaper reported that Mr Shula is a member of the Patriotic Front party and that Vice President Wina’s security personnel almost opened fire on the driver.
