University Of Zambia Reopens For Graduating Students
The University of Zambia (UNZA) has officially reopened for graduating students after being closed for nearly three months as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
UNZA’s Head of Communications and Marketing Brenda Bukowa said students in their fourth year had returned to classes, as well at 7th year medical students.
Dr Bukowa said necessary health precautions had been taken and that all students were being offered accommodation, with a maximum occupancy of one student per room. She emphasised that squatting would be strictly prohibited.
She added that the University would continue to offer E-learning to non-graduating students and that an online graduation ceremony would be held next month.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Zambia currently stands at 1,557, with 22 deaths. The worst affected regions are Nakonde, with 642 cases, and Lusaka, with 459.
