Mtendere Water Contamination Caused By Bust Pipes

Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa has explained that the water contamination in Mtendere Township was caused by two water pipes bursting underground, causing faecal matter to be mixed in with the township’s water supply.

Mayor Sampa learned of the incident during a visit to the Lusaka Water and Sanitation Company.

The water company has since sent a 10,000 litre water bowser to Mtendere so that residents have access to clean water for drinking and washing.

The company’s managing director, Jonathan Kampata, has assured Mr Sampa that the pipes in the affected area will be repaired as soon as possible.

Mayor Sampa has urged residents to avoid tap water and use the bowser available until repairs are complete.
