Vaccine Programme To Be Re-Launched
The Minister of Health, Sylvia Masebo, has stated that the government are due to re-launch the COVID-19 vaccine programme later this week.
The programme, which is expected to re-launch on Thursday, has been described as a catch-up campaign to achieve the target of having 30 percent of the population vaccinated by December.
Mr Masebo told ZANIS that the most recent figures showed that, in the last 24 hours, 3,678 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered within the country.
The minister of health subsequently said that this brought the total number of vaccines delivered to 757,241.
“These are broken down by dose type as follows, 328,179 dose one vaccinations annd 429,062 fully vaccinated,” she stated.
A re-launch of the vaccine programme within the country demonstrates a step taken in the right direction to prevent the virus spreading across the country. Previously, under the former Patriotic Front government, the vaccine programme was highly mis-managed and led to predictions that it could take 1,075 years for the population to be jabbed if vaccinations continued at the same rate.
