Nine Die In Road Traffic Accident On The Isoka-Muyombe Road

Nine people have tragically died on the spot in a car accident that took place along the Isoka-Muyombe road.

The accident involved a vehicle, a Mitsubishi Fighter registration number AIB 7875, losing control and flipping over. Driving the car was Peter Simukoko, aged 35.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the accident took place yesterday around 22:00 hours, around where the Isoka-Muyomba road runs through Sese Village in the Mafinga District. 

Mr. Hamoonga said that the vehicle’s braking system failed while descending Chilumbi Hills, leading to the vehicle rolling downhill and overturning on the left had side of the road.  

The police said the driver and 17 other passengers sustained serious injuries, and have been rushed to Isoka District Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

“The bodies of the deceased are lying in Isoke District Mortuary Hospital awaiting post-mortem”, Hamoonga added. He was saddened to reveal that a juvenile was among the departed.
