Bars And Casinos Close As Covid-19 Cases Rise

Bars, taverns and casinos close as lockdown restrictions tighten in the country due to a rise in COVID-19 cases amidst the third wave of coronavirus.

In a bid to stop the spread of COVID-19, the government said that the entertainment spots would only open during the weekends.

The closure is effective for 14 days however during this period a take-away alcohol service is permitted to operate.

As 1,093 cases and 69 coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Monday, the government appear to be panicking for ways in which to stop the spread, appearing to blame the entertainment industry for a rise in cases. By not acting as quickly as other African nations, the country has fallen well behind in its vaccine roll-out, resulting in owners of bars and casinos to bear the brunt of a second national lockdown during the midst of an economic crisis, with nowhere to turn.
