Vaccination Programme Scaled Up, Additional Vaccines To Be Delivered
The ministry of health have confirmed that the country is scaling up its vaccination programme, as it is soon to start delivering Sinopharm vaccines in specified districts.
In a bid to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the ministry of health has obtained Sinopharm vaccines from China, as part of a growing collection of vaccines within the country.
Dr Kennedy Malama, The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, has encouraged Zambians to get vaccinated to prevent an impending fourth wave of the virus from hitting the country.
“We encourage members of the public to consider being vaccinated during this period before the anticipated fourth wave at the end of this year,” Dr Malama said.
Under the previous Patriotic Front government, only 250,000 individuals, out of a total population of over 17million, were vaccinated.
In the last 24hrs 130 new COVID-19 infections were recorded out of 3,777 tests conducted, with Western Province recording the highest number of cases at 39.
