Zambian Chamber of Mines Gives Thumbs Up to FQM investment plans

The Zambian Chamber of Mines has saluted the First Quantum Minerals’ (FQM) proposal to double its investment in its Kansanshi Mine in the North West Province for the next 20 years.

The news came as the first day of the 2022 Mining Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa, came to a close with the FQM CEO, Tristan Pascall, announcing the plans to double the investment by adding US$ 1.3 billion into the mine.

 

President Hakainde Hichilema ends legal dispute with Vedanta over KCM

The President has announced that Zambia has agreed to end the legal action against Vedanta resources.

The news was reported by Bloomberg yesterday.

The legal proceedings started due to allegations that the company had failed to disclose plans to increase the scale of its operations and had failed to pay adequate tax.

 

Government Sets 70% Covid-19 Vaccination Goal

Sylvia Masebo, Minister of Health has set out to reach the goal of vaccinating 70% of the population of Zambia.

She outlined that the government will take a multi-sectoral approach and has planned two 10 day covid-19 vaccination campaigns in order to encourage people to get the jab.
