ZAMBIA IS “WELL PLACED” TO DEAL WITH THE FOOD CRISIS

Yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema gave a speech to the European Union where he outlined that Zambia is “well placed” to deal with the food crisis and will help in the fight against food insecurity.

He stated, “As the world faces critical shortages of key agricultural produce, and as we witness the devastating effects of food insecurity in all our regions of Africa and beyond, Zambia is well placed”

 

THE PRESIDENT ARRIVES AT CHOGM

President Hichilema has arrived in Rwanda ahead of CHOGM with key meetings taking place today and tomorrow.

The visit is the second trip this week, following an invitation to the EU yesterday.

The trips reflect the president’s commitment to opening up Zambia to international trade deals in order to expand economic growth within the country.

 

COSAFA CUP SQUAD NAMED

Aljosa Asanovic, Chipolopolo coach has named the 23-member team for the COSAFA Cup which is due to be held in South Africa next month. 

Notably, the team now includes Cyril Chibwe, Kelvin Kapumbu and Warren Kunda of Green Eagles among others.

The team are due to leave for South Africa on the 29th of June.

The full squad list is as follows:

Strikers: Jimmy Mukeya, Ricky Banda, Enock Sakala jnr, Joshua Mutale

In Goal: Cyril Chibwe, Lawrence Mulenga, Charles Kalumba

Defenders: Prosper Chiluya, Allan Kapila, Benedict Chepeshi, , Shemmy Mayembe, Luka Banda, Dominic Chanda, Warren Kunda

Midfielders: Kelvin Kapumbu, Sadam Phiri, Prince Mumba, Patrick Gondwe, Harrison Chisala, Kelvin Kampamba, Spencer Sautu, Albert Kangwanda, Abraham Siankombo
