Young Boy Treated For Burns After Mother Pours Hot Water On As A Punishment For Stealing

A young boy in Katozi village, Nakonde district is being treated for severe burns after his mother poured hot water on him for allegedly stealing K100.

Esnart Nakonde, a single mother of two, noticed the missing money from her bedroom when she returned home from ordering vegetables for her business.

She immediately suspected her son and followed him to Katozi primary school, where she found him buying fritters and ice blocks.

Upon returning home, she poured hot water on him, causing burns to his left side and left hand.

The incident was reported to the One Stop Centre and then to the police by members of the community.

The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at Nakonde urban clinic, and the suspect is in police custody.

A case has been opened, and the suspect will appear in court soon.

The incident highlights the dangers of corporal punishment and the need for parents to seek alternative methods of disciplining their children.

It also underscores the importance of community members reporting incidents of child abuse to the authorities.

The well-being of children is a collective responsibility, and everyone has a role to play in protecting them from harm. It is hoped that justice will be served in this case, and that the victim will recover fully from his injuries.
