United Capital Fertilisers (UCF) to employ 3,500 workers
The UCF’s Urea fertiliser plant is set to open in October next year, and it plans to employ 3,500 workers to operate the plant.
The UCF Board Chairperson, Chance Kabaye said the Wonderful Group of Companies (of which the UCF is a subsidiary) expects to produce 1000 metric tonnes of urea by the end of the year.
He spoke at the AFRIQOM Fertiliser Club Africa Conference which began in Lusaka on 10th June, “next year, we will have a total labour force of 3,500 or 3,600 employees. That’s a huge contribution to job creation in this country.”
Rabby Banda, a UCF Lab Manager said the fertiliser produced is of a high quality with the right moisture. He said, “At the end of the day, this is what is going to satisfy our plant.”
A total of 800,000 metric tonnes of compound Z fertiliser is produced annually at Capital Fertiliser.
The progression of the UCF remains in theme with the objectives of the Africa Fertiliser and Soil Health Summit earlier this year in May.
