ZAMMSA Distributes 5,300 Health Care Kits

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has distributed 5,300 health centre kits across the country out of the allocated total of 7,000.

According to ZAMMSA Senior Manager Corporate Communications Bradley Chingobe this is from the fifth consignment procured from Mission Pharma.

Last mile delivery of the health centre kits are now complete in Lusaka, Central, and Copperbelt provinces, while the distribution rate in Southern and Muchinga provinces is at 90 percent.

Chingobe said that ZAMMSA is gratified that the issue of shortages of essential medicines and medical supplies at the primary healthcare level has been addressed.

ZAMMSA has also recorded a major increase in laboratory commodity availability, reaching 70% stock availability, which until recently had been hovering around the 50 to 55% mark.

Commenting on the achievement Chingobe has stated, “This milestone reflects ZAMMSA’s commitment to ensuring access to essential medical supplies… The availability of these commodities make it seamless for healthcare professionals to diagnose and precisely guide on appropriate treatment decisions in the identification process of diseases and varied conditions that affect the Zambian populace.”
