Government signs contract for five hospitals and 120 health centres
The Government has signed a three-year contract with NMS Infrastructure Ltd for the construction of five level-one hospitals and 120 health centres across the country.
The project, which will cost $427.2 million, is expected to be completed in three years.
The Minister of Health Dr Elijah Muchima witnessed the contract signing between the Government and NMS Infrastructure.
The minister said the new district hospitals will be strategically located to serve as hubs for comprehensive healthcare.
They will offer a wide range of in-patient and out-patient services, including surgery, diagnostics and emergency care.
According to Dr Muchima, the contract shows the government’s aim “to provide universal health coverage is becoming a reality”.
