Fertiliser distribution begins for farmers in North-Western Province
Farmers in North-Western Province have begun receiving fertiliser for the 2024-2025 farming season under the government’s Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP). The initiative is set to benefit over 67,000 farmers across the province.
The North-Western Provincial Agricultural Coordinator Muyobo Shimabale reports that three districts will access their farming inputs through the electronic voucher system. Meanwhile, more than 40,000 farmers will obtain their supplies via the Direct Input System.
At the launch of the fertiliser distribution exercise in Solwezi, North-Western Province Permanent Secretary Colonel Grandson Katambi called upon farmers to collaborate closely with extension officers to ensure a smooth process. He emphasised the importance of agricultural extension officers being readily available to assist farmers throughout the distribution.
The FISP aims to bolster agricultural productivity in the region by providing essential resources to local farmers. As the distribution unfolds, officials are optimistic about its potential impact on the upcoming farming season.
