The lawyer Kelvin Fube Bwalya has announced his intent to challenge current President Egar Lungu at the Political Front convention next year. KBF announced his intent whilst criticising Lungu of disregarding the PF’s founding principles.

KBF stated that Lungus’ failure to lower taxes has left the Zambian people with empty pockets, which has increased poverty, particularly in rural areas.

KBF’s announcement comes on the back of PF confusion, which is a result of the violence and misconduct seen during the ongoing inter-party elections in the Copperbelt. The Chairperson of the PF, Collins Kamala, has made unsubstantiated claims that the chaos was caused by UPND infiltrators.

Additionally, those who have been prevented from voting during the recent punch-ups have threatened to change their allegiances to other parties.

The open challenge of KBF amongst the recent disorder within the PF displays the broken state of the ruling party and the current government. What is clear from both of these recent developments is that it is time for change in our government from the disorderly PF.
