VP Wina in Thailand for International Conference of Ending Hunger

Vice President Inonge Wina is today expected in Bangkok, Thailand, where she will participate in an international conference on ending hunger and malnutrition convened by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). 

Wina is expected to deliver a keynote speech during the event, alongside other attendees such as Ethiopian First Lady Zinash Tayachew and the Prime Minister of Rwanda Édouard Ngirente.

An estimated 54.5% of Zambians live below the national poverty line and according to the most recent Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) 1.12 million children, or around 40%, under 5 years suffer from chronic malnutrition, with 420,000 children, or 15%, suffering from acute malnutrition.

During her visit Wina is also expected to hold bilateral meetings including with her Thai counterpart Hamid Ansari.
