The Patriotic Front’s Mayoral candidate Miles Sampa, was nowhere to be seen yesterday evening at the Mayoral Debate. The Debate was organised by a consortium of Civil Society organisations, the debate focused on key challenges that face Lusaka residents such as water and sanitation, public transport, markets and housing.

All other candidates turned up for the debate and participated with eagerness at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre. The Debate was broadcast live on the privately-owned Diamond TV and was moderated by Costa Mwansa.

The PF did not offer any reason as to why Miles Sampa did not show up for the debate. However, the PF have a long history of avoiding pre-election debates for dear of their candidates embarrassing themselves.

Pastor Kangwa Chileshe of UPND says his party manifesto is a development agenda through economic empowerment and efficient service delivery.

He pledged to end a culture of reactive governance to more proactive one once elected Mayor. Mr Chileshe also said there was a need to free the running of Bus Stations and Markets from political elements and introduce efficient leadership at the city council.

Saboi Imboela, the only female candidate in the race observed that voting for a female Mayor will help accelerate development in the city.
