Doya Siliya Assures Zambians Kenneth Kaunda Airport Will Not Be Given To Chinese

The PF Government has had to deny claims that they were set to surrender Kenneth Kaunda Airport to China due to unpaid debts. Dora Siliya has said that these claims are false.

The Information and Broadcasting Services Minister responded to reports from Africa Confidential which stated that China had proposed a take-over of the airport should the Zambian government fail to repay its massive foreign debt on time.

She then went onto deny that the Government was selling ZMBC and ZESCO to the Chinese too.

Ms Siliya said ZESCO was a strategic institution that could not be sold to a foreign firm and that any such decision would have to be made by Cabinet.

She however said so far, there has not been any Cabinet decision to sell ZNBC or ZESCO
