Minister of Community Development and Social Services Emerine Kabanshi FIRED

In the wake of Zambia’s current corruption scandal the President has fired the Minister for Community Development and Social Services.

In addition, he has fired the ZAMPOST Post Master General Mcpeherson Chanda over the issue.

In a bid to gain back some respect the President has ordered an ‘immediate clean-up’ of the Ministries of Development and Social Services, Ministry of Transport and Communications and ZAMPOST.

It is rumoured that ZAMPOST paid itself an advance of $4 million in ‘management fees’ to handle the social cash program, and investigations have uncovered that funds were diverted without authority or consent from cooperating partners.

It is also being suggested that the social cash transfer program was invaded by bogus beneficiaries in collusion with some junior civil servants.
