Kafue District Votes
Voters in Kafue District are casting their ballot for a new council chairperson amid reports of low voter turnout but a peaceful poll.
The contest is a two-horse race between the ruling PF and opposition UPND. The election was prompted by the defection of the incumbent Thomas Zulu from the UPND to the PF. Zulu was under suspension from the UPND.
The polls opened at 0600 this morning and are expected to close by 1800. There are a total of 59 polling stations serving the district’s more than 62,000 registered voters.
