Media Crackdown Continues – Teacher Sent to Jail for Defaming Lungu on Social Media

Lusaka Magistrate court has sentenced a 27-year-old male teacher from Luapula Province to two years in jail for defaming the President.

He was said to have defamed the President on his Facebook page.

The Jude handed down a sentence of two years with hard labour and slapped affine on him.

Earlier the suspect pleaded with the court to exercise leniency.

He also offered to be an ambassador who will educate the public on the dangers of insulting the president and others on social media.
