Ousted NDC Secretary General Withdraws Party from Opposition Alliance
The embattled NDC’s continues to face problems. As of yesterday, the ouster Secretary General Mwenya Musenge has withdrawn the party from the opposition alliance.
He has been removed as Secretary General by Kambwili following his nomination as President, and instead named as chairperson for chiefs and traditional affairs. However, Musenge has refused to acknowledge this and claims he is in fact, still Chief Executive Officer of the party.
Whilst holding a media briefing, Musenge stated that under the guidance of the Registrar of Societies Chishimba Kambwili is not officially president and therefore cannot make any changed to party structure, hence Musenge reinstated members who were suspended.
“This week Wednesday I will have a round table meeting with Mr. Kambwili to resolve the impasse and I am appealing to NDC members to remain calm and desist from issuing statements that will go against efforts to reconcile the party” he said. In the meantime he plans to withdraw the party from the opposition alliance.
Musenge has denied allegations that he is set to re-join the Patriotic Front as he is the owner of the NDC.
