Since his split from the PF he has become increasingly close with the UPND, who’s President Hakainde Hichilema was supportive of Kambwili when he was being persecuted by the PF>

Dr Kambwili has said that if the people want the NDC and UPND to work together than he is more than open to eh idea. He used the Kenyan style Rainbow Coalition as an example of what their partnership could look like.

“We will listen to the people, if the people want us to work together, we will have to respect their wishes and form some kind of an alliance like the Kenyans did,” Dr Kambwili said.

Whilst speaking about the coalition to United Voice Radio, he also took the opportunity to address the PFs ongoing agricultural failings and noted that their policies have contributed to food insecurity across the country.

He has observed that if Government was serious in revamping the agriculture sector, it would have forfeited the purchase of a presidential jet for instance at a cost of 68 million United States dollars.
