Kanganja calls for peace today as Katuba Parliamentary by-election takes place

Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has urged political parties participating in the Katuba Parliamentary by-election to maintain peace.


Kanganja stated that Police have information on those who are regarded as criminal minded and might be -planning to invite others to bring disturbance and violence to the by-election, with the aim to disrupt the prevailing smooth campaign environment. He stressed that such activity would not be tolerated and that the Zambia Police Service are more than determined and ready than ever to bring such perpetrators down.

In preventative measure, more police officers have been deployed onto the streets so as to enhance security and protect the electorate.

Kanganja reassured that the people of Katuba Constituency and other parts of the country where by elections are taking place, that the police will ensure the areas are kept violence free.
