Nevers Mumba Calls for Government To Prioritise Electricity Crisis
MMD President Nevers Mumba has called on the PF government to stop all unnecessary spending and ‘romantic’ programs and to focus on resolving the current energy crisis Zambia faces.
Citizens have been facing debilitating load shedding with some areas going up to 12 hours a day without any electricity. Unsurprisingly this has taken a serious toll on businesses, clinics and schools across the country.
Many feel angry that they are being deprived of basic amenities such as clean water and electricity whilst Ministers and the President enjoy lavish lifestyles.
Nevers Mumba has lashed out at the President accusing him of poor leadership, citing President Trump as an example;
“America is anticipating Hurricane Dorian in Florida. President Trump has cancelled his trip to Poland so that he can concentrate on mitigating the impact of the threatening hurricane. This is how you govern and this is why people vote for leadership, to avert national catastrophes,” he said.
He also referred to former President Levy Mwanawasa and his fight to halt Zambia’s debt crisis;
“He said Mwanawasa cancelled most of his international trips, restricted the travel of ministers and permanent secretaries and allowed ambassadors and high commissioners to handle all international engagements.”
