HH To Appear Before Police On Wednesday

United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema has said he will appeared before the Zambia Police at 10 o’clock on Wednesday morning.

In a statement to his followers the opposition leader initially said he had no idea what he was being summoned over, however his lawyers later revealed the questioning was in connection to a complaint by Chilufya Tayali over the ownership of Kalomo Farms.

Official records show that Mr Hichilema legally acquired the farm, however the matter has been brought before the Lusaka High Court and is currently being investigated.

The UPND president voiced his exasperation with the investigation yesterday, claiming it was just another trumped up political charge against him.

“We have said before and we shall still say it now, that we don’t have to commit a crime for these summons, because the only crime we have committed in this country is to aspire for public office of our beautiful and resource endowed country which is being mismanaged, said Hichilema.

Nevertheless, HH indicated he was still up for the fight:

“We will not be subdued by any kind of intimidation by those who wield power and will not be deviated from our ambitions and vision to liberate our country from dictatorship, cronyism, patronage and corruption,”” he said.

Police had previously called HH in for questioning on Monday 21st December but his lawyers had requested that the appearance be pushed back.
