ACC Confirms Chilufya Is Under Investigation

The Anti-Corruption Commission has confirmed that it is investigating Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya for corruption.

During a press statement on Monday afternoon, ACC Corporate Affairs Officer Jonathan Siame explained that the minister was being investigated for the alleged possession of property suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

Chilufya is suspected of embezzling over K44 million from his ministry and is already implicated in a number of cases that have been brought before the ACC and the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).

On Tuesday the ACC carried out interviews with Dr Chilufya and issued him with a formal warning, however investigations are still ongoing.

Speculation about the health minister’s fate has been in wide circulation, with the The Mast newspaper reporting that sources high up in the PF party expected Dr Chilufya to be arrested on Tuesday.

So far no arrest has been made but the case continues to develop.
