PF Cadres Accused Of Destroying Woman’s Stand
Suspected members of the Patriotic Front (PF) have been accused of destroying a woman’s makeshift stand in the Lubwa ward of Woodlands Constituency.
According to the UPND, PF cadres arrived by buses on Friday afternoon carrying machetes and other weapons. They then ransacked the stand belonging to Mercy Chalwe, which was displaying UPND electoral materials. Ms Chalwe says this is the second time her stall has been attacked by PF thugs.
Ms Chalwe has blamed local PF MP Margaret Mwanakatwe for ordering the demolition of her stand, having attempted several times previously to stop her displaying UPND regalia.
Ms Chalwe learned of the attack via social media. She says that the PF singled her out after she received a visit from UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday.
She says she has received numerous death threats from PF senior officials and fears for her life.
Mr Hichilema has since visited the stall to pay his condolences to Ms Chalwe.
