Where Do Ministers Get Their Money? Asks Miti
Alliance for Community Action (ACA) Executive Director Laura Miti has joined those questioning the source of ministers’ wealth at a time of economic hardship in the country.
Writing on social media the civil society activist asked, “President Lungu, do you have any idea where your Ministers are getting all this money they are throwing at potential voters?”
“I am asking because, gosh, the Kwacha is tough to find for the rest of us, mwe,” Miti continued.
She gives the example of Minister Malanji who she says personally bought a minibus for a market in his constituency last week.
“A whole Rosa minibus from his pocket, baba! And he still has money to buy bread at home,” she writes.
“Ise, when we pay school fees, ni month ya porridge na rape, iyo.”
“Kampamba Mulenga is also out in Kalulushi distributing sewing machines and digging boreholes,” she continues.
“Bowman siwokamba - zake zichoka pakamugodi.”
“So, ba Kateka, ise tidabwa mwe - where is this money coming from? Is that how well you pay your Ministers? Enough to buy a minibus the way the rest of us buy a bag of mealie meal for struggling relatives?”
“Aba bantu kapena a natu yobela. Otola zatu se tililele,” she concludes.
